I am Bill Jones, and I work as a Test Cell Operator at Mint Turbines.
How long have you been at Mint Turbines?
I have been with Mint Turbines for 14 years.
How did you begin your career in the aerospace industry and at Mint Turbines? What is your educational background?
I started out cleaning and painting parts and gradually moved into working on compressors and other mechanical components. I’ve always had a mechanical background, so working in aerospace felt like a natural fit.
What does a typical workday look like for you at Mint Turbines?
I fill my day by preparing systems and running tests in the test cell. Every day is a little different, but it’s always hands-on and requires focus to make sure everything runs safely and efficiently.
What is your favorite thing about working at Mint Turbines?
I love working on the mechanical side of things, especially with the T53 and PT6 engines. I’m a gearhead at heart, so getting to work directly on turbines is the part I enjoy most.
What is one of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on during your time here?
Building and testing the T53 test cell was definitely a highlight. I had a lot of input in the process, and seeing it come together was incredibly rewarding.
In your opinion, what sets Mint Turbines apart from other companies in the industry?
The people here really make the difference. Everyone is focused on quality and teamwork, and that culture of collaboration makes Mint Turbines stand out in turbine maintenance and field services.
How does Mint Turbines support your professional development?
Mint Turbines encourages me to pursue any work or certifications that interest me. That flexibility has been great for growing my skills over the years.
What is your favorite aircraft?
I really enjoy working with the PT6 engines, and I also like the Bell 412—there’s just something about it that stands out.
Looking back at this past year, what is one of your favorite achievements or memories?
Some of my favorite moments were working alongside Randy and Chip on key projects. It’s always rewarding to collaborate with teammates who share the same focus on quality.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. It’s a great way to relax and recharge.
